\nBuddy Baker attempted to qualify the #46 DuPont Automotive Finishes Chevrolet Lumina for Hendrick Motorsports at Talladega Superspeedway in 1993, but he failed to do so.

\nHendrick Motorsports decided to expand for the 1993 season with Jeff Gordon driving the #46 DuPont Chevrolet Lumina but a licensing agreement prohibited a team from using the number full-time. Hendrick was forced to select a different number for Gordon to race, and that´s how he ended up driving #24.
